# Vibe Coding Builders MCP: connect guide for AI agents This plain text version is returned because this request does not look like a browser page navigation. Browser page: https://www.vibecoding.builders/mcp/install This guide connects the Vibe Coding Builders MCP server to the AI app that you run in, signs the member in, and checks that it works. Vibe Coding Builders (VCB) is a directory of projects by people who build with AI tools. With this server, the AI app reads and changes the member's own VCB page, as the member. Server facts, for any app: - URL: https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP (some apps call it "HTTP"; it is not SSE and not stdio). - Sign-in: OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration. The app opens a browser page. There is no API key and no token to paste. - OAuth metadata: https://www.vibecoding.builders/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp - Name: Vibe Coding Builders, or vcb where spaces are not allowed. The member needs a VCB account with a confirmed email address. The account must be at least 24 hours old. Tools: Read: - vcb_get_my_page: Get my VCB page Write (live at once, as the member): - vcb_submit_project: Add a project to my VCB page - vcb_submit_request: Ask the VCB community for help - vcb_update_story: Change my VCB story page - vcb_update_profile: Change my VCB builder profile - vcb_send_feedback: Send feedback to the VCB team ## What the person must click themselves You cannot do these steps for the person. Tell them what to click, then wait: 1. In apps without a shell (Claude apps, ChatGPT): add the server in the app settings. You give them the exact clicks. 2. Start the sign-in when the app asks (Connect, Authenticate or Sign in). 3. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page. 4. Click Allow on the VCB page that names the app. ## Agent contract If you are an agent that reads this for a member: read the whole guide first. If you have a shell, run the commands yourself. Do not only describe them. Setup ends only when you print one of the reports in "Finish". A server that is added but not signed in is not finished. Rules: - Use short, plain sentences. - Never ask the member for a password, a token or an API key. Sign-in happens only in the browser. - Never add a second copy of the server. Match an existing copy by its URL, not by its name. Order: 1. Check if Vibe Coding Builders is already connected: if the tool vcb_get_my_page is available to you, call it once. If it returns the member's page, go to "Finish" and print report (A). 2. Find which app you run in. If you are not sure, ask the person one question: "Which app are you using me in?" 3. Do the section for that app: check, install, sign in. 4. Verify: call vcb_get_my_page once. In most apps the tools load only in a new chat or session. If they are not available yet, ask the member to start one. 5. Finish: print exactly one report. ## App: Claude Add to Claude: https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=Vibe%20Coding%20Builders&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vibecoding.builders%2Fapi%2Fmcp 1. Open the Add to Claude link. Claude opens Customize, then Connectors, with the name and the server address filled in. Click Continue. Claude then shows the sign-in settings it found. Click Continue again. Keep "Sign in now" under Authentication. Under OAuth client, choose "Register automatically". Click Add. 2. Without the link: on claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors. Click "+ Add", then "Add custom connector". Type the name Vibe Coding Builders, paste the server address and click Continue. Review the sign-in settings Claude found and click Continue. Keep "Sign in now" under Authentication. Under OAuth client, choose "Register automatically". Click Add. 3. Click Connect next to Vibe Coding Builders. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page that opens, then click Allow. 4. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner or Primary Owner adds the connector in Organization settings, then Connectors: click Add, hover over Custom and select Web, then follow the same steps. On Enterprise, people with a custom role that includes Manage access to Libraries can add it too. Each member then opens Customize, then Connectors, finds Vibe Coding Builders in the list and clicks Connect. 5. A connector that you add on claude.ai also works in Claude Desktop, Cowork and the Claude mobile apps, on the same Claude account. For Claude Code, use the Claude Code steps. ## App: Claude Code Check first: run `claude mcp list`. If a server with the URL https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp is there, skip the install. Command: ```text claude mcp add --transport http --scope user vcb https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp ``` 1. Run the command in a terminal. --scope user adds the server to all of your projects. 2. In Claude Code, run /mcp, pick vcb and choose Authenticate. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page that opens, then click Allow. ## App: Cursor Add to Cursor: cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=vcb&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy52aWJlY29kaW5nLmJ1aWxkZXJzL2FwaS9tY3AifQ== 1. Open the Add to Cursor link. Cursor asks you to install the server. 2. Without the link: add the server to "mcpServers" in ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project): { "mcpServers": { "vcb": { "url": "https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp" } } } 3. Open Cursor Settings, then Tools & MCP. Click Connect next to vcb. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page that opens, then click Allow. ## App: VS Code Add to VS Code: vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22vcb%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vibecoding.builders%2Fapi%2Fmcp%22%7D Command: ```text code --add-mcp '{"name":"vcb","type":"http","url":"https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp"}' ``` 1. Open the Add to VS Code link, or run the command in a terminal. 2. Without either: run "MCP: Open User Configuration" from the Command Palette and add the server to "servers": { "servers": { "vcb": { "type": "http", "url": "https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp" } } } 3. VS Code opens a browser page the first time it starts the server. If it does not, run "MCP: List Servers", pick vcb and choose Start. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page that opens, then click Allow. ## App: ChatGPT 1. On chatgpt.com, open Settings, then Plugins (older screens say Apps or Connectors). If you cannot add your own server, turn on Developer mode at the bottom of the Plugins settings. 2. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins. Click +, then "Add custom MCP server". Name: Vibe Coding Builders. URL: the server address. Authentication: OAuth. Tick the box that says you trust this server. Click Create. 3. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page that opens, then click Allow. 4. On Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, an admin adds the server or gives you permission to add one. Custom servers do not work in the ChatGPT mobile app: add the server on the web. ## App: Codex Check first: run `codex mcp list`. If a server with the URL https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp is there, skip the install. Command: ```text codex mcp add vcb --url https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp ``` 1. Run the command in a terminal. It adds the server to ~/.codex/config.toml. 2. Run codex mcp login vcb. Sign in to Vibe Coding Builders on the browser page that opens, then click Allow. ## App: other apps Look in the app settings for "MCP", "Connectors", "Plugins" or "Tools". Add a remote server with the server facts above. Leave the client ID and the client secret empty: the app registers itself. If the app cannot add a remote MCP server with OAuth, print report (B) with the step "this app has no remote MCP with OAuth". ## Finish Print exactly one report as the last thing in your reply. (A) Connected. Vibe Coding Builders is connected to . In a new chat, try: "Use Vibe Coding Builders to show my builder page." (A-pending) Steps given. Vibe Coding Builders is not connected yet. The person does the clicks above, signs in and clicks Allow. Then they start a new chat. (B) Not finished. Say which step failed, the exact command and the exact error text. Do not say that Vibe Coding Builders is connected. ## When something fails - The VCB page says "Confirm your email address first": the member opens the link in the email that VCB sent, then does the sign-in step again. - The VCB page says "New accounts can connect an AI app after 24 hours": the member tries again after the time that the page shows. Print report (B) until then. - The server shows as failed: fetch https://www.vibecoding.builders/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp. If that fails, VCB or the network is down: print report (B). If it works, check that the server URL is exactly https://www.vibecoding.builders/api/mcp. - The member wants to disconnect an app: https://www.vibecoding.builders/settings/connections.
